Zucchinisoup / Courgettesoep

One of our favorites (also populair amongst our dinnerguests) is zucchinisoup. Chop up two zucchini's (the ones we have here are about 20cm/8" long) and cook in 1L of chickenstock for 20-25 minutes. Puree the soup and add a cup of creamcheese with herbs and salt and pepper. Reheat and serve with a spoonfull of crème fraîche and some chives in each bowl.
Careful; high in vitamins, taste and calories ;-)
I didn't come up with this myself, I found this recipe on the internet a few years ago but can't remember where.

Een van onze favorieten (ook populair onder mee-eters) is courgettesoep. Snijd twee courgettes in blokjes en kook de blokjes 20-25 minuten in een liter kippenbouillon. Pureer de soep en voeg een bakje kruidenroomkaas toe. Nog even verhitten en dan opdienen met in elke kom een lepel crème fraîche en was bieslook.
Voorzichtig: veel vitamines, smaak en caloriën ;-)
Ik heb dit recept niet zelf verzonnen maar vond het een paar jaar geleden op het internet, ik weet helaas niet meer waar.

Lübeck, May 9 / 9 Mei

We brachten 9 mei door in Lübeck.

We had breakfast at a bakery and walked around town for a bit. Then we went on a boat tour.

We ontbeten bij een bakkerij en liepen wat door de stad. Daarna maakten we een vaartocht.

After that we visited the viewpoint in the tower of the St. Petri church, from where we had a great view of the town.

Daarna bezochten we het uitkijkpunt in de toren van de St. Petri kerk, vanwaar we een mooi uitzicht over de stad hadden.

We walked around town some more. There were so much pretty historical buildings to be seen!

We liepen nog wat door de stad. Er waren zoveel mooie historische gebouwen te zien!

Back on the main square we enjoyed the historical market, there were stalls and music and yummy snacks.

Terug op het centrale plein genoten we van de historische markt. Er waren kraampjes, muziek en lekkere snacks.

Yes, I'm wearing one mitten there, can't operate the camera with two mittens on and this way at least one hand is warm!
Ja, ik draag hier één handschoen, ik kan de camera niet bedienen met twee handschoenen aan en op deze manier is in ieder geval één hand warm!

Lübeck is famous for it's marzipan so off course we had to buy some. It was fun to see al the little marzipanfigures in the shop.

Lübeck staat bekend om zijn marsepein dus daar moesten we natuurlijk wat van kopen. Het was leuk om in de winkel alle marsepeinfiguren te bekijken.

We visited the Burgkloster Museum where we saw art and learned about local history.

We bezochten het Burgkloster Museum, waar we kunst zagen en over de locale geschiedenis leerden.

We walked untill I was exhausted. We had a quick grillroom dinner and topped it off with an icecream.

We liepen tot ik uitgeput was. We aten snel bij een grillroom en eindigden met een ijsje.

Omniversum

On July 13 we went to the Omniversum, the IMAX Dome theatre in The Hague. We saw 'The Alps' and 'Greatest Places'. Before they started we had a quick meal with sandwiches.

Op 13 juli bezochten we het Omniversum in Den Haag. We zagen 'The Alps' en 'Greatest Places'. Voor de films begonnen aten we wat sandwiches.

a little bit spoiled! / Een beetje verwend!

Hoi! Ik ben terug van een weekje in Duitsland, meer daarover later!
Maarten en Wilma hebben me verwend na het behalen van mijn vwo-certificaat Engels. Van Maarten kreeg ik een chocoladekookboek en van Wilma scrapbookspulletjes en cupcake-servetjes.

Off course I had to try one of the recipes from the cookbook. It didn't work out well, appearently I really need a sugar-thermometer for this dessert but fortunately this was a mistake that tasted well anyway ;-)

Natuurlijk probeerde ik een van de recepten uit het kookboek. Het mislukte, blijkbaar heb ik voor dat toetje toch echt een suikerthermometer nodig. Gelukkig smaakte de 'mislukking' toch goed ;-)

28/29-update English (voor Nederlands zie de post hieronder)

1: Make a zine
I know what I want to make and have some ideas for subjects. I'm thinking of combining the idea of a zine with the idea of a christmas letter. With a twist.

3: Have a little art retreat
Later this year we will be house-sitting at Wilma & Fred's and I fully intend to have my little art retreat then, of at least a day and maybe more. So the date is set!

5: Make a vlog
I have a subject, I'm making some preparations.

6: Make a (short) movie
I came up with a subject and was wondering how to make a stop motion picture. I had already written out some dialogues and had come up with silly voices and lame jokes. But one of my lead characters drowned in cat-pee (fortunately that was the only time Ko peed in the house during his stay, but I wish he would have chosen another place) along with all of his costumes. I need to borrow his brother from Wilma.

7: Finish a large scrapbookalbum from before 2010 (not a mini)
I have made some LO's over the past month (although for different albums) and am hoping my 150-challenge will motivate me to work on this. Because I have reasons to finish my 150-challenge in less than 3 months. 137 LO's to go. Wish me luck!

9: Work my way trough Keri Smith's book 'How to be an explorer of the world'

I caved in and joined Tami Morrison's BPS class 'Everyday Adventures', and had great fun even though I only had time to do part of the assignments. The class helped me get started. I have shown some of my results here and hope to work on it some more now that my English is done and I have more time.

10: Make an inspirationwire or -board
I'm still not sure where I'll hang it (the empty wall in my scraproom is made out of such sturdy concrete that i'm pretty sure I won't be able to use thumbtacks on it) but yesterday I bought a pretty card for it and I'm planning a visit to my favorite German postcard shop soon :-)

I bought this card (published by Catch) in the shop of the National Museum of Ethnology yesterday. Museums are great places to find inspirational postcards, I'll be paying more attention to them from now on!

15: Have a picnick in the park.
Our first attempt got cancelled because of massive rain showers. We have a date set for another attempt next month, fingers crossed for good weather!

16: Pick flowers
I had forgotten this one was on here. I actually did pick some flowers last month, I put them on Ine's coffin during the funeral service, she liked picking flowers.

' 17: Bake Cupcakes and decorate them nicely
I have some plans for august with little candles Tove sent me, and how about my rainbow cupcakes in Wednesday's post?!

19: Keep learning on my own after my English Examns
I'm looking forward to working on my French and I've signed up for some lectures about art history in the fall! And as always: museums, museums, museums! I have visited two last week and two this week and have a lot of visits to museums planned for the summer! And I've started reading a new book.

21: Finish all projects around the old photo's
Did a little bit of work on those. And actually got a larger workload, I'll be scanning some of the photo's that were found in Ine's house.

23: Get my Sinterklaas-website online
I have been browsing trough my photo archive, collecting photo's and getting a clearer idea of how I want the site te become.

28/29 Update (Nederlands) (Dutch, for English see the post above)

1: maak een zine
Ik weet wat ik wil maken en heb wat ideetjes voor onderwerpen. Ik denk erover om een soort combinatie te maken van een zine en een kerstbrief. Met een eigen draai eraan.

3: houd een knutselretreat
Later dit jaar gaan we op het huis van Wilma en Fred passen en ik heb er mijn zinnen op gezet om dan mijn knutselretreat te houden, van minstens een dag en misschien langer. Dus de datum is geprikt!

5: maak een vlog
Ik heb een onderwerp en ben bezig met voorbereidingen.

6: maak een film(pje)
Ik had een onderwerp bedacht en vroeg me af hoe ik een stop-motion filmpje kan maken. Ik had al wat maffe dialogen uitgeschreven en gekke stemmetjes en flauwe grapjes bedacht. Maar een van m'n hoofdrolspelers verdronk in de kattenpis (dat was gelukkig de enige keer dat Ko ergens anders in huis plaste dan in de kattenbak, maar ik had liever gezien dat hij daarvoor een andere plek had gekozen) samen met al zijn kostuums. Ik moet zijn broertje dus een keer lenen van Wilma.

7: maak een groot scrapbookalbum van vóór 2010 af (geen mini)
Ik heb de afgelopen maand wat LO's gemaakt (alhoewel voor verschillende albums) en hoop dat mijn 150-challenge me zal motiveren om hieraan te werken. Ik heb redenen om m'n 150-challenge over minder dan drie maanden af te willen hebben. Nog 137 LO's te gaan.

9: mezelf door Keri Smiths boek 'how to be an explorer of the world' heenwerken

Ik heb toch toegegeven en meegedaan met Tami Morrisons BPS class 'Everyday Adventures', en had veel plezier al kon ik maar voor een deel van de opdrachten tijd. De class heeft me een stukje op weg geholpen. Ik heb hier wat van mijn resultaten laten zien en hoop er de komende tijd meer aan te kunnen werken nu ik na het afronden van m'n Engels meer tijd heb.

10: een inspirationwire of -board maken
Ik ben er nog steeds niet uit waar ik hem wil hangen (de lege muur in m'n scrapkamer is van zulk stevig beton dat ik er vast geen punaise ingedrukt krijg) maar gisteren heb ik een mooie kaart voor eraan gekocht en ik ga binnenkort een bezoekje brengen aan m'n favoriete Duitse kaartenwinkel :-)

Ik kocht deze kaart (gepubliceerd door Catch) in de winkel van het Rijksmuseum voor Volkenkunde gisteren. Musea zijn een goede plek voor het vinden van inspirerende ansichten, ik ga er voortaan meer op letten!

15: ga picnicken in het park
Onze eerste poging moesten we afzeggen vanwege regen. We hebben een datum geprikt voor een nieuwe poging volgende maand, en nu maar duimen voor goed weer!

16: pluk bloemen
Ik was vergeten dat deze op de lijst stond. Ik heb vorige maand bloemen geplukt, ik heb ze tijdens de uitvaart op Ine's kist gelegd, ze hield van bloemen plukken.

17: bak Cupcakes en versier ze mooi
Ik heb een plan met de kaarsjes die Tove me gestuurd heeft, en wat dacht je van m'n regenboog Cupcakes in m'n post van woensdag?!

19: na m'n examen Engels wat voor mezelf blijven leren, bijv. Duits, Latijn, wiskunde
Ik zie er naar uit om aan m'n Frans te werken en ik heb me opgegeven voor wat lezingen over kunstgeschiedenis in het najaar. En zoals altijd: museum, museums, museums! Ik heb er zowel deze als vorige week twee bezocht en heb er nog heel wat meer gepland staan voor deze zomer! En ik ben begonnen in een nieuw boek.

21: alle projecten rond de oude foto's afronden
Ik heb hier een klein beetje aan gewerkt. En heb er nog flink wat werk bijgekregen met foto's die bij Ine vandaan komen die ik wil scannen.

23: Sintsite online krijgen
Ik heb m'n foto-archief doorzocht naar foto's die ik hiervoor kan gebruiken en krijg een steeds helderder beeld voor ogen van hoe ik wil dat de site wordt.

In de enveloppe zaten ook een van m'n eigen enveloppen en wat extra dingen.

I used the envelope in which they came as the base of a page to hold the envelopes. I added some journalling and photo's of the envelopes I decorated.

Ik heb de enveloppe waarin ik ze kreeg gebruikt als basis voor een pagina waarop ik de enveloppen heb verwerkt. Ik voegde tekst toe en wat foto's van de enveloppen die ik heb versierd.

Last Sunday / Afgelopen zondag

Afgelopen zondag bezochten we Michiel die zijn verjaardag vierde.

Mini Cupcake had a rainbow-friend with him to play with. After the friend was introduced to Michiel he had to go... ;-)

Minu Cupcake had een regenboogvriendje meegebracht om mee te spelen. Toen hij hem voorstelde aan Michiel moest het vriendje helaas afscheid nemen... ;-)

Michiel's parents gave him a silly little keyboard as a joke. It took me some attempts but I remembered how to play a birthdaysong and a small part of 'Fur Elise'.

Michiels ouders gaven hem als geintje een klein keyboardje. Het kostte me een aantal pogingen maar uiteindelijk wist ik weer hoe ik 'Lang zal ze leven' en een stukje van 'Fur Elise' moest spelen.

Heading back home, the crowd was ORANGE coloured in anticipation of the soccermatch (which the Dutch team lost, they got 2nd place in the world cup). Seriously, there were places where the people wearing other colours stood out in the orange crowd! And that was hours before the match!

Op de terugweg waren er plaatsen waar je opviel als je géén oranje droeg! En dat was uren voor de wedstrijd!

I had dinner with Maarten at home and then went to stay at Wilma and Fred's place where the neighbourhood goes less crazy than our neighbours. I sat in the garden for a while looking at Google and Ilse in their new 'browservilla' as Wilma calls it. I think villa search engine would be an even better name since they are both named after a search engine. I don't think she is planning to add an 'Explorer', 'Firefox' or 'Chrome' to the bunny-family ;-) They moved in on saturday.

Ik at thuis met Maarten en ging toen logeren bij Wilma en Fred, waar de buurt een stuk minder luidruchtig is tijdens voetbalwedstrijden dan onze buren. Ik zat een tijdje in de tuin en keek naar Google en ilse in hun nieuwe 'browservilla' zoals Wilma hem noemt. Ik denk dat villa zoekmachien een nog betere naam zou zijn aangezien ze beide zijn vernoemd naar een zoekmachine. En ik denk niet dat ze van plan is de konijnenfamilie uit te breiden met een 'Explorer', 'Firefox' of 'Chrome' ;-) Ze zijn er afgelopen zaterdag ingetrokken.

They have had the past several weeks to get to know each other before moving into the same cage and they are so sweet together!

Ze hebben de afgelopen weken de tijd gehad om elkaar te leren kennen en ze zijn zo lief samen!

I saw this cool idea from a blog called The Dainty Squid and wanted to make my own! So in Utrecht at Betsies Cookingshop I bought these:

Ik zag dit coole idee op een blog genaamd The Dainty Squid en wilde ze zelf ook maken! Dus in Utrecht haalde ik dit bij Betsies Kookwinkel:

I even decided to allocate some of my scrapstash to this little project: ;-)

Ik besloot zelfs wat scrapspullen te gebruiken voor dit projectje: ;-)

I felt like a witch brewing magic potions (white magic off course ;-) ), trying to mix up different colours. Purple became some greyish lilac but green turned out great and orange was fine.

Ik voelde me net een heks, toverdrankjes brouwend (witte magie natuurlijk ;-) ), verschillende kleuren mixend. Paars werd een soort grijsachtig lila maar groen lukte prima en oranje was ok.

And into the oven they went!

En hup, in de oven!

They didn't look as cool on the outside, but I like how the inside turned out!

Ze zagen er aan de buitenkant minder leuk uit maar van binnen waren ze wel goed gelukt!

How cool is this? I wonder if this would work with my round cakemold and my turbanmold...
Cupcakes are taking over The Netherlands too!
I saw some cupcake-decorating workshops and stalls on the craftfair in June.
Check this out! I need to learn how to decorate them and how to make creamy glazing and marzipan!
And oh, boy A cupcake blog! I wish she was my aunty! ;-)

Hoe gaaf is dit? Ik vraag me af of dit zou lukken met m'n ronde taartvorm en m'n tulbandvorm...
Cupcakes veroveren nu ook Nederland! Op de kreabeurs in Rijswijk vorige maand zag ik een workshop cupcakes versieren en stands met benodigdheden.
Kijk dit nou! Ik moet echt leren hoe ze te versieren en hoe ik crème en marsepein voor erop kan maken!
En o, boy Een cupcake blog! Ik wou dat ze mijn tante was! ;-)
