Paris day 3

On our third day in Paris we started with a boat trip along the Seine and the Canal Saint Martin. We went trough several locks, it was really cool! We got off the boat in Parc de la Vilette. We walked through the park and had lunch and looked around in the colossal building Cité des Sciences. We didn't visit the Géode or the museum but we did have fun checking out the gift shop with all kinds of sciency fun things. Then we went to Gare de l'Est and took another look at two of the locks we had gone through. One of them can be seen in 'Le fabuleux destin de Amélie Poulain'. We saw some boats going through the other lock, it was fun to watch from a different perspective!
Maarten went to do some traveling around by public transport, while I rested and worked on my travel journal. We had dinner at an Indian restaurant along the Canal Saint Martin, near one of the locks, and had another look at the lock by night.

Op onze derde dag in Parijs begonnen we met een boottocht over de Seine en het Canal Saint Martin. We gingen door meerdere sluizen, leuk! We gingen van boord in het Parc de la Vilette, waar we rondwandelden. We lunchten en keken rond in het kolossale gebouw van Cité des Sciences. We bezochten de Géode noch het museum maar vermaakten ons wel in de cadeauwinkel waar ze allerlei grappige wetenschapsdingetjes verkopen. Daarna gingen we naar Gare de l'Est en keken nog eens rond bij twee van de sluizen waar we doorheen waren gegaan. Eén ervan is te zien in 'Le fabuleux destin de Amélie Poulain'. Door de andere gingen net boten, leuk om het vanuit een ander perspectief te bekijken!
Maarten ging wat rondreizen met het openbaar vervoer terwijl ik rustte en aan m'n traveljournal werkte. We aten 's avonds bij een Indiaas restaurantje aan het kanaal, bij een van de sluizen. Na het eten keken we nog een keer bij de sluis.

The canal goes underground for a while, underneath Place de la Bastille. The tunnel had a special athmosphere because of the light.
Het kanaal loopt een stuk ondergronds bij Place de la Bastille. Er hing een speciaal sfeertje in de tunnel door het licht dat op sommige plekken binnenviel.

In Cité des Sciences there was a big map of France on the floor. I'm standing in Paris of course ;-)
In Cité des Sciences stond er een grote kaart van Frankrijk op de vloer. Ik sta in Parijs natuurlijk ;-)

O, wat herkenbaar allemaal, dit heb ik voor een aantal weken terug ook gedaan daar in die kanalen onder de grond en lekker door parijs heen, mooie stad he en wat een prachtige foto's heb je gemaakt!
