Paris - 1

The alarm clock sounded way too early Friday morning, but as a result of that we arrived in Paris by train while it was still morning. After we had checked in at the hotel, we traveled to the Trocadero fountains, where we enjoyed the view and an icecream. The plan was to walk along the Champs de Mars to Invalides and from there to Musée d'Orsay. And so we did, but since my right hip decided to go on strike it took a lot longer than planned. We ate at a restaurant near the museum and after dinner we checked out the fair along the Jardin des Tuileries. we loved the notable absence of eardeafening house music we are accustomed to at Dutch fairs. Maarten wanted to see the Louvre Pyramid and so we did.

De wekker ging veel te vroeg af vrijdagochtend, maar daardoor kwamen we wel al per trein in Parijs aan terwijl het nog ochtend was. Nadat we hadden ingechecked bij het hotel reisden we naar de Trocadéro-fonteinen, waar we genoten van het uitzicht en een ijsje. Het plan was om over het Champs de Mars naar Invalides te lopen en van daar naar Musée d'Orsay. Dat deden we ook, maar aangezien m'n rechterheup besloot in staking te gaan duurde het een stuk langer dan gepland. We aten bij een restaurant vlakbij het museum en na het eten keken we bij de kermis bij de Jardin des Tuileries. Wat een verademing, een kermis zonder dreunende housemuziek! Maarten wilde nog even kijken bij de piramide van het Louvre, wat we dus deden.
