I live, I love, I create, I capture, I learn, I enjoy.

I'm a presenter

In the summer of 2011 I spoke to F., who co÷rdinates volunteer efforts at Museum Meermanno. I told him I wanted to work in a museum after my studies, but didn't know what kind of work I would like. Working at a museum as a volunteer would help me get insight in the processes going on behind the screens and learn what I wanted to do.

Flash back to the summer of 1986. Chalon-sur-Sa˘ne, France. Curating my first exhibition, consisting of local finds.
Forward to 1989/1990. Starting my own photo-album and a stamp collection that I neatly put into albums and enjoy showing to people. Crafting a magazine with my stepsister.
Forward to 1994. Dreaming about this really cool showcase I saw at Ikea. It would be a great way to showcase some of my collections...
Forward to 2007. Over a hundred photo-albums and a room dedicated to scrapbooking. My very own blog with pretty much daily posts.
Forward to 2012. Working as an editor for the magazine of my patient organization and starting to realize I want to become a curator of exhibitions.

I suddenly get it. The link between all these things I feel passionate about. They're all about presenting something to others in an attractive (and sometimes educational) way. I enjoy both the organizational process as well as coming up with content and thinking about the visual side of it. And then bringing it all together and share it with others. I always knew I was a collector, but now I know: first and foremost, I'm a presenter. (in a non radio/tv way, that is ;-) ).
