In July...I enjoyed playing with cats and little red lights. Roeland's cat Poes goes crazy when I take out the 'laser-pen'. Lappie, on the other hand, couldn't care less. Lappie came to stay with us for a couple of weeks, just as she did the past two summers, while her people were on vacation. It was fun to have her here! She settled right in, just like before.
Maarten and I visited Park De Hoge Veluwe, where we rode bicycles, visited the Kröller-Müller Museum and saw deer. I studied Geschiedenis van het Privéleven (History of the Private Life) and took the examn (got an 8 out of 10).
I studied Art History. Maarten and I visited the old fortified town of Willemstad. I started my new job as editor in chief of Lees ME. Busier with the magazine than ever! Fortunately we have a lot of people helping us!
Maarten and I visited Bergen op Zoom. It was a surprise outing, I didn't know up front where we were going. After our visit to the Zaanse Schans late June, I had been complaining on facebook about the nauseating smell of cocoa there. I felt like I would never long for chocolate again. So a couple of days later I got a package in the mail, that said 'Start slowly and all will be well!'. It held this: :-)
Maarten and I walked trough the woods from De Bilt to Zeist, where we celebrated Michiel's birthday. We met our first two slowworms (hazelworm in Dutch) and ate apple cake and French fries. Fun to see Michiel's parents and grandmother again, I've known these peeps since 1994.
I don't think Miffy's target audience will appreciate Karin Slaughter just yet.
I had dinner at De Luca in The Hague with two nice ladies. After dinner we joined others to see Star Trek: Into Darkness. Lots of action, but enough other stuff to keep it enjoyable. Drinks afterwards.
Maarten and I went to see the exhibition Zoetermeer Utopia at Stadsmuseum Zoetermeer. Roeland and I visited the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem, to see the exhibition 'Frans Hals: Eye to eye with Rembrandt, Rubens and Titian'.
Maarten and I went to s-Hertogenbosch with Leo to celebrate Rob's 65th birthday. Rob cooked us a nice meal and we walked around town for a while and had drinks on a square.
I met up with my study mentor, to talk about my study plans after getting my propaedeutics. He helped me make some decisions. Afterwards I drew up a planning for the next four years, I'm hoping to get my bachelor's degree in 2017.
I had drinks with a group of people at a square in Delft, enjoyed the company. Mocktails on the balcony with Maarten. Freezer-stored ready-mades. Man, were they sour!
At Meermanno I mostly worked in one of the museum depots, on a part of the collection I had helped register earlier. I liked working on another part of the process of incorporating objects into the museum's collection, I learn best top down and getting some overview makes things easier to understand for me.
Rob and I visited the newly reopend Noordbrabants Museum. I joined a film marathon with friends. We saw:
K. cooked us a good dinner!
I attended a monthly get-together for drinks in Leiden. Roeland and I ended the month in Paris, visiting 7 museums, 1 chapel and 1 castle.
