London 5-4-2011On April 5, 2011 we visited Saint Paul's Cathedral. Photography is not allowed inside. We took an audiotour and spent quite a lot of time there. Then we climbed the dome. 528 steps. Even more than Cologne Cathedral. After feeling like I was on the brink of a heart attack in Cologne (not kidding), I had promised myself to never ever do something like this again. But this wasn't as hard. A lot of the stairs are one way only, and the ones where you do encounter people going the other way are broad. So no people bumping into me. There are lots of places to rest. Maarten carried my backpack part of the way. This was doable. Perhaps not the smartest thing to do, but doable. And the view was great!
After Saint Paul's we wanted to go to the Brunel Engine House. But we got lost (we got ou at the wrong station and paths were blocked due to construction work) and by the time we found it, it was too late for a proper visit. I was pretty exhausted and went back to the hotel. Maarten went to travel around town with public transport and came home with HUGE pizza's (appearently there was a discount that made them cheaper than normal sized ones.)
