In August......More studying philosophy and cuddling Aafje. More beautiful skies on the other side of our livingroom window. A furry houseguest who felt at home here even quicker than she did last year and came walking into the kitchen when I said 'carrot' because she knew that when Aafje got a snack, she would get one too. Celebrating my gran's and Maarten's birthdays and our 6th wedding anniversary. New bookcases with doors for all the rooms to replace the open bookshelves in the livingroom (yay, less dusting!) and provide some extra shelving. Our annual visit to the firework festival @ Scheveningen with Maarten's co-workers&co, such a fun gang to hang out with! A philosophy exam (that went well, I'm relieved that it's done!) Getting back to work @ the museum after a hiatus, where a mountain of books (an artwork by Alicia Martín) was being placed against the facade as part of the 'Papier Biënnale 2012'. Seeing some friends that I hadn't seen for a while. Eating way too much sugar: cakes, desserts, chocolate without any soy(!). Going to a craft market with Wilma. Waving Maarten off at the trainstation, Francien and he are off on a bit of an adventurous trip in Turkey, can't wait to hear the stories and see the photos! Getting back to work on my philosophy paper that is WAY overdue (first version is almost done, pfew!). Doing some DIY, part of which went well but was quite exhausting (Wilma helped out and took care of three more bookcases) and part of which turned into an accidental swimmingpool in our bathroom (Wilma saved the day). No more plumbing before breakfast. Good news is, I now know how to shut down the central water supply to our apartment.
Summer finally came properly and stayed for a while. Due to the heath we were sleeping with the window and curtain open for a couple of weeks. I've been falling asleep looking at a star (or was it a planet?) and have gotten a bit more appreciation for sunrise, even finding myself breaking out in a little Cat Stevens as morning had broken. Then, me being me, closing window and curtain to get back to sleep for the other half of the night.
