Summer Manifesto

I had seen summer manifestos popping up here and there and couldn't resist. I first saw Ali's but she got the idea somewhere else.

In case you can't read it, it says:

- wear a hat
- ride my bike
- have a picknick
- take walks with Maarten
- go to the beach after work
- swim
- cuddle with Aafje (and Lap, and Maarten ;-) )
- try to establish more of a routine
- journal
- study
- have dinner on the balcony
- scrapbook
- blog
- eat more fruit

I made this in early June. and then, Aafje got ill and I pretty much spent the summer inside because I wanted to stay with her and focus on studying for my philosophy exam. And now I suddenly find myself at the end of August. There's still part of summer left, who knows what will happen, but so far, summer has passed me by. From the above goals I sure got the cuddling with Aafje and the studying right. That was pretty much my life these past two months. I kept up with my daily journalling. And I did little bits of some of the other goals; I rode my bike twice, had one or two short walks with Maarten at night, went to the beach once, albeit not after work, you might say that I swam in our bathroom after I managed to create a pool there (long story, just don't trust me with plumbing before breakfast, okay? Not even if it seems a very simple job. ;-) ), got into sort of a routine but not the way I had envisioned it, did a tiny bit of scrapbooking, the blog got more attention than it had had lately although not all of the effort is visible at first glance, and at some point our stack of fruits counted 23 pieces (not counting each individual strawberry in the fridge.) It just didn't feel like summer. I might go out and buy myself a hat someday soon, to wear on an evening picnic on the balcony. How was your summer so far?

Ha, ha, welke loodgieter knipt dan ook een waterslang door en vergeet vervolgens dat er een HOOFDwaterkraan is ;)
